Pottery-Earthenware
My main medium has been buildings, however, I have been an on and off potter for 10 years. I am currently taking classes at the Northern Clay Center on Franklin Avenue in Minneapolis. I love my mud. I am an experimenter and have trouble making the same piece twice. The mud twists and turns in my hands and has a mind of it's own, like the current, it resists being controlled and makes it's own path. I prefer color over earth tones, chaos over remembering what glaze formula I used last. Every piece I make is unique, one of a kind. I make functional art and am seeking the perfect cup, love the feel of hand made in my hands and love being with people who are of the same mind. I want to offer this place as somewhere that is filled with the creative power of our neighbors. People all around us that make something out of the raw materials right in front of us. Art not mass produced, shipped in a crate, polluting the entire way, and than ending up as landfill, but slowly considered, shaped by the locals with hands and love and joy and permanence. Peace and sustainability to all.
